Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Namaste! Nepal

    Your adventure begins as you land in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the sights, sounds, and energy of this bustling city nestled in the heart of the Himalayas. Gather with the team for a trip brief- ing, where you’ll get an overview of the exciting adventure ahead. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow adventurers and clarify any last-minute questions.

  • Day 2 - River

    Starting early for a 3-hour drive to Trishuli River. Tackling the 3/3+ rapids with

    it’s big-volume and pool-drop features will provide the perfect opportunity to

    get comfortable on a Nepali river with your kayak. It’s a great way to ease into

    the unique challenges of Nepal’s rivers while enjoying a thrilling yet manageable

    experience.

  • Day 3 - River

    The Lower Marshyangdi River is a fantastic next step! Known for its more challenging

    and intense rapids, it will definitely push your skills further. With its

    steep gradients and continuous whitewater, it offers a more adrenaline-pumping

    experience compared to Trishuli. After tackling the Trishuli’s big-volume

    rapids, the Lower Marshyangdi will offer a whole new level of excitement, making

    it a great follow-up for building your confidence and skills.

  • Day 3 - River

    It is typically rated class 4/4+, which means it will test your skills and endurance,

    offering a true challenge for kayakers looking for a more intense experience.

    With its narrow gorges, big drops, and powerful currents, the Upper

    Marshyangdi provides a raw, untamed river experience. It’s the perfect river to

    really immerse yourself in the beauty of Nepal’s wilderness while navigating its

    more demanding rapids.

  • Day 5 - River

    Repeating the Upper Marshyangdi is the perfect way to build confidence and

    mastery over its challenging rapids. Each run offers a fresh perspective and the

    opportunity to refine your technique, helping you become more attuned to the

    river’s rhythm. With each pass, you’ll likely discover new ways to navigate the

    twists and turns, making it an even more thrilling and rewarding experience.

    It’s one of those rivers that keeps giving, and you’ll appreciate it even more the

    second time around.

  • Day 6 - River

    Known for its fun, fast-paced rapids and stunning scenery, it offers an exciting

    yet manageable challenge, perfect for a shorter adventure. Afterward, enjoying

    Pokhara will be the perfect way to relax and unwind. The lakeside city offers

    beautiful views, great food, and plenty of opportunities to explore or simply

    enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

  • Day 7 - River

    Modi Khola is another fantastic river to explore! Located near the Annapurna

    region, it offers beautiful white peak mountains scenery and a range of exciting

    rapids, making it a great choice for those seeking both adventure and stunning

    views. The river is typically class 3 to 4, with some technical sections, so it’s perfect

    for kayakers looking for a bit more challenge without being overwhelming.

  • Day 8/9 - Event

    The Modi Khola Express is celebrated as Nepal’s premier whitewater event,

    where adventure meets culture and we can´t afford to miss it. The Spade family

    has been an integral part of this event since its inception. For us, as river enthusiasts,

    it offers the perfect opportunity to witness thrilling rapids, participate in

    the action, and connect with both local and international paddlers. Whether

    you choose to paddle the stretch of your choice or simply sit back, relax, and

    soak in the vibrant atmosphere, the Modi Khola Express promises an unforgettable

    experience.

  • Day 10 - Rest day

    It’ll be a great way to relax and recharge after the excitement of the event. Whether

    you spend the day exploring the lakeside, enjoying some local cuisine, or just

    soaking in the serene views, it’s the ideal way to wind down and reflect on the

    adventure. Enjoy your downtime!

  • Day 11 - Road

    Early start for long ride to Surkhet! The journey itself, with its beautiful views,

    will be a great prelude to the adventure ahead. Spending the night in Surkhet

    ensures we’ll be rested and ready to fully immerse ourself in the Karnali expedition

    we been all looking forward to.

  • Day 12/18 - River

    The Karnali River is one of Nepal’s most famous and challenging rivers, known

    for its big-volume rapids and remote, rugged beauty. It’s typically classified as

    class 4 to 5, making it suitable for experienced kayakers seeking an adrenaline

    rush. The river offers an incredible mix of powerful whitewater, stunning gorges,

    and breathtaking landscapes, making it a must-do for those seeking a truly wild

    river experience.

    The Karnali also provides an opportunity to explore some of the most untouched

    and scenic areas of Nepal, with long stretches of rapids interspersed with calmer

    sections. The trip down the Karnali is not just about the kayaking—it’s about

    immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the region, far from the hustle and

    bustle of everyday life.

  • Day 19 - Road

    After returning to Kathmandu, you’ll have the option to unwind

    at your own pace or explore the city’s rich history with a

    heritage site tour. In the evening, we’ll come together for a final

    team dinner, followed by a small party session to celebrate our

    journey. For those looking to end on a high note, there’s always

    the choice to go big—after all, we’re certain some team members

    will want to make the celebration even more memorable!

  • Day 20 - Departure

    It’s time to say goodbye. We’ll drive you to the airport and bid

    you farewell, until we meet again.

  •  International Rafting Federation-certified guides and safety kayakers,

  •  International certified equipment,
  •  Dry bags and pelican boxes to keep your personal items dry and safe on the river

  • Expenses of personal nature such as tips for guide, porter and driver, bar bill, etc.

Things to consider while in Nepal and before coming to Nepal:

  • A vaccination certificate showing a full dose of vaccination against COVID-19, completed at least 14 days prior to entering Nepal.
  • A copy of the permit, if applicable, for mountaineering, trekking and other activities that will require permission.
  • Have good self awareness - health condition.
  • Prepare for all weather and trail conditions
  • Don’t underestimate altitude… and drink a lot of water
  • Never overpack
  • Leave footprints not traces
  • Have healthy mind set to respect local culture
  • Expecting luxury in mountains could lead to dissatisfaction
  • Switch off everything and soak in the moments

    Our rafting trips are perfect for all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned adventurers, with expert guides providing all the necessary instruction. However, for kayaking, you should be a confident Grade 4 paddler, as the rapids can be challenging. If you’re unsure about your skills, our team can help assess your readiness!

  • Are there options for solo travelers?

    Currently, we do not offer specific options for solo travelers. Our trips are designed for groups, so it's best to join with friends or family to fully enjoy the adventure!

  • Are there age restrictions?

    People 14 years or older can join the trip. This ensures everyone is physically capable and can follow safety guidelines.

  • What type of accommodation can I expect?

    In Kathmandu and other major cities, you can enjoy luxury, comfortable hotels. While on the river, we’ll be camping in tents with sleeping bags and sleeping mattresses for a cozy and adventurous experience under the stars!

  • What safety measures are in place during the adventure?

    We prioritize your safety with IRF-certified guides and top-notch equipment. Our team is trained to handle various situations, ensuring you have a safe and enjoyable adventure. Plus, we always carry a first aid kit to address any needs that may arise!

  • What should I pack for the trip?

    Bring your toiletries, personal meds, and any other personal items you might need. We have dry bags to keep your belongings safe and dry. While we provide all the river gear and camping essentials, you’re always welcome to bring your own. We recommend trying to pack light for easier adventuring!

  • What is the best time of year for these trips?

    The sweet spot for rafting and kayaking on the Karnali is from September to December and March to May. With perfect water levels and awesome weather

  • How physically demanding are the trips?

    Trips vary in difficulty, but a general level of fitness is recommended! Our guides will ensure everyone is safe and comfortable!

  • What if I have dietary restrictions?
